iFeatures Appoints a new Executive Producer

Flagship talent development and production initiative to re-open in 2016

Creative England, the BFI Film Fund and BBC Films have appointed Zorana Piggott as Executive Producer for the fourth round of iFeatures, the UK’s flagship initiative for emerging feature film talent.

Zorana has been working in the UK film industry for more than 15 years, producing award-winning features and shorts. She most recently produced Tom Geens’ debut feature COUPLE IN A HOLE which premiered at 2015 Toronto International Film Festival where it was selected as one of TIFF2015 top picks by The Guardian and The Hollywood Reporter. The film also won the Jury Grand Prix, Best Screenplay and the Best Film Audience Award at the 2015 Dinard British Film Festival.

The partners have also announced that iFeatures4 will open for submissions on Monday, 8 February 2016, with three roadshows for prospective applicants taking place in Sheffield, Birmingham and London from the week starting 1 February.

iFeatures will develop a slate of 12 projects from up and coming writer, director and producer teams, leading to three films being greenlit in 2017, each with a budget of £350,000. The partners will fully-finance, with BBC pre-buying UK free TV rights. The accompanying professional development programme is supported by Creative Skillset’s Film Skills Fund which is partly funded by the National Lottery.

Zorana Piggott, iFeatures Executive Producer, said: “I have been following iFeatures since its inception and have admired its development into such a prestigious initiative for low-budget feature film production in the UK.”

Caroline Cooper Charles, Head of Film at Creative England, said: “We are absolutely delighted to be launching a fourth round of iFeatures with Zorana onboard. She completely embodies the spirit of creative risk and adventure that we encourage throughout the iFeatures journey and we’re looking forward to the roadshows and meeting the talented film-makers who are up for the challenge.”

Mary Burke, Senior Production and Development Executive at BFI, said: “Zorana symbolises the drive and bold distinctive vision that the BFI is firmly committed to developing, supporting and investing in across the UK. “

Steve Jenkins, Executive Producer for BBC Films, said: "BBC Films is delighted to continue its involvement in iFeatures, as the scheme once again proves that for our best new film-makers high ambition, originality and energy will always transcend budget".
